The polyurethane covering encourages relaxation, particularly in younger horses and forms a thicker mouthpiece that has a milder action. The flexibility of the material used in these bits provides a softer and more forgiving contact with the horse’s mouth and can stimulate salivation in the horse’s mouth which helps to promote a moist and supple mouth improving the horse’s acceptance and relaxation of the bit.
The rein can be attached to the large ring for an action similar to a snaffle. A curb rein can be attached to the bottom rings to introduce a gag action. The lower the curb rein is attached, the stronger the gag action will be.
